Lennar Corp. plans to install solar power systems in all its new homes built in the Bay Area.   The Miami-based home builder's Lennar Bay Area Homebuilding division made the pledge at the opening of its Milano community in San Ramon this week. The Milano homes are equipped with a roof-integrated solar electric system from PowerLight, a subsidiary of SunPower Corp.

A pair of new housing developments here in the Valley are offering potential buyers one perk that, in the long run, could pay for itself: solar power.  The Central Valley's largest solar community was unveiled Wednesday near Peach and Teague Avenues in Clovis. Lennar Home Builders are also building a similar development in Reedley.

A large San Joaquin Valley homebuilding company announced solar energy systems will be standard on their new houses.  Lennar Homes, one of the biggest central valley builders, will start with 258 houses in Clovis and Reedley, then spread the program to other developments, company officials said.
